Vintner's Club
Notes From The Club

An early generation predecessor to Destination Cellars and other specialty destination clubs, The Vinter's Club described themselves as "a private club for wine aficionados." Crafted by Cliff Young, a five-star restaurant owner in Denver, The Vinter's Club made a somewhat significant launch in the industry, with Young even speaking at the 2007 Destination Club and Private Residence Club Industry Symposium.

The wine focused destination club launched in April of 2005 after Young learned of the model in a local newspaper. "It spoke of how the future of vacations and luxury second home living was in the private residence clubs as it offered ownership without the strain of upkeep. While there seems to be numerous offerings in the field right now, ours is unique in that it is amenity-driven, exclusive and themed. All of our properties will be located in the heart of the greatest vineyard land in the world."

The flagship property for the club would be Domaine Montagny, a €3.2 million dating back at least to the 13th century. "Beaune is located in the geographical center of Western Europe," the club wrote. "Private planes are welcomed at Longvic airport near Dijon, just 30 minutes from the Domaine. The TGV stops in both Dijon and Beaune and the A6 is only 10 minutes away."

"The Domaine is five kilometers from Beaune (5 to 10 minutes) and yet sits in a perfect country setting which is preserved by law. This rare combination of rustic countryside, grand estate lifestyle and Beaunois proximity is a great joy of the property."

"The area sits in Le Poil, one of the small hamlets which encircle Beaune like a ring of stars and are very desirable locations for aristocratic living."

"The location is quiet, calm and filled with sounds of nature and is very secure."

The niche market that The Vinter's Club pursued never emerged and the young destination club faded out of the sector without much fanfare.
