Vintner's Club

"Here and there perfection exists, and a goal of the Vinter's Club is to allow it to emerge in the lives of our members."

Described as "a private club for wine afficionados," by Cliff Young, a five-star restaurant owner in Denver who founded the club. "This is for the serious wine and food lover who values access."

Launched in April of 2005, the Vintner's Club arose out of an article in a local newspaper. "It spoke of how the future of vacations and luxury second home living was in the private residence clubs as it offered ownership without the strain of upkeep. While there seems to be numerous offerings in the field right now, ours is unique in that it is amenity-driven, exclusive and themed. All of our properties will be located in the heart of the greatest vineyard land in the world."

Young was right about the growth of the sector. Within Colorado alone, Dream Catcher Retreats and Quintess had launched earlier in the month, Private Escapes had already launched their second club, Private Escapes Platinum, and Exclusive Resorts was growing at record paces, already well over 1,000 members.

The club's flagship launch property was a medieval manor on eight acres of orchards. Domaine Montagny is located in the geographical center of Western Europe and is just 20 minutes from Burgundy, France. The 7,000 square foot, three story estate featured a gourmet kitchen, four guest suites, library, salon, and family dining room, and was previously a boutique hotel prior to joining the Vintner's Club family. The Vintner's Club planned to quickly add properties in Tuscany and Bordeaux soon thereafter.

Each property would have a 500 bottle wine cellar, focused on rare and specialty wines. Due largely to the competition that Young touched on, the Vinter's Club did not expand past Domaine Montagny. The club's website remains active despite the lack of growth.
