Vantages West Holiday Access
Vantages West launched late in 2005, but by early 2006 had ceased operations. Undercapitalized, the small destination club was unable to weather the inaugural slow growth months that many clubs go through following their launch.
Vantages West was in operation for such a short time that no information is available regarding the club's properties, pricing, or holiday access policies.
There are several holiday access policies that were widely used during Vantages West's time in the industry, any of which may have been used including:
- Lottery: Some clubs conducted lotteries to determine which members would have access to properties during peak periods. The benefit of this type of structure is that all members have a chance at having access to popular destinations during highly sought after times. The obvious downside is that a member could potentially never get their choice of a peak period travel date.
- Rotating System: Other clubs worked on a rotating system were pools of members would have priority access to select holidays each year, rotating with other pools of members so that each would have preferred access once per rotation cycle. This model gives members equal access to peak periods, but only allows members the ability to access prime travel periods once per rotation.
- First Come, First Served: Other clubs treated holiday travel like other travel dates, letting members access club periods by using their annual nights well in advance, opening non-holiday travel dates up as members' nights were already allocated for peak period travel. This structure benefits those who continually monitor availability at the expense of those who don't plan trips far in advance.
