Sybaritic Retreats
Usage

Competing against clubs like Vantages West and Legacy Luxury, Sybaritic Retreats may be the most unknown destination club in the history of the sector.

Sybaritic Retreats actually received a mention in the New York Times and still failed to procure any lasting impact on the industry.

The small destination club existed exclusively as a website for its entire lifetime, with no updates ever disclosed concerning a public launch date, properties, membership outline, or even a form for luxury travelers to request additional information.

For years, the club's single webpage remained active, but late in 2009 it was removed, concluding the long tenure of the club.

The usage rules were also amongst the long list of details not disclosed by the club, but it is likely that the club would be built around a concept not traditionally viewed as a destination club.

Members would pay a small, one time fee to join the club. This non-refundable fee would give members discounts at participating hotels and resorts around the world with the club owning no real estate.

This type of structure allows for unlimited travel as long as the member is willing to pay the rate charged by participating hotels and resorts. Again, this model is near universally not believed to fit into the broad definition of a destination club.

While this structure does have benefits for a select audience, destination clubs typically provide members larger homes, higher service quality, and a refundable portion of the up front membership fee, some even giving equity ownership in the club or properties.
