Sybaritic Retreats Resignation and Redemption
One of the young clubs introduced early in the history of the destination club space, Sybaritic Retreats was one of the few that had virtually nothing to publish.
The club's single webpage provided no information about pricing, membership plans, annual dues, membership benefits, properties, or anything pertaining to the structure of the club. Instead, a series of definitions of the word sybaritic were interlaced with smooth jazz music.
As you can expect, nothing pertaining to the club's resignation and redemption policies were even remotely mentioned.
Based on the domain records of the club's website, it appears that Sybaritic Retreats was associated with Ken Simms, a veteran in the hospitality and travel fields.
Simms has been attached to "club" ventures in the past that may shed some light on what the Sybaritic Retreats' model was planned to revolve around. Members would pay a low one time entry fee to join the club and in exchange receive discounted prices at participating resorts and luxury hotels.
Many organizations function very similar to this type of model, but this concept is traditionally not viewed as a destination club.
Typically in this type of club design, the member does not receive any of their entry fee returned to them if they wish to leave, but since they are receiving discounted lodging rates, there is no true reason to exit the club.
