Created in 2004, Sybaritic Retreats would have been one of the first destination clubs introduced, but the small club would never finalize their club structure and despite a mention in the New York Times, would become one of the most unknown clubs in the history of the sector.

The club's website provided no substantial information about the destination club nor did it have a place for potential members to express their interest. A series of definitions of sybaritic and a historical overview of the Greek city Sybaris was all that was provided on the site.

The club never drafted any press releases and outside of the mention in the New York Times, where all that was mentioned was the "inspirational" names that many destination clubs used, including Exclusive Resorts, Private Escapes, and Dream Catcher, Sybaritic Retreats never received any press.

It appears that Sybaritic Retreats likely was never fully established, launching with an incomplete club structure. Late in 2009, the club's website was removed, still with the one page that had been on the site for years.

As can be assumed, no information pertaining to the club's membership plans were ever revealed, including pricing, usage rights, or annual dues.
