Despite the fact that Sybaritic Retreats received a mention in the New York Times, the club appears to have never formally launched.

From 2004 through 2009, a rather generic website defined Sybaritic as "The World's Most Exclusive Luxury Residences."

No information was ever disclosed regarding the club's business model, pricing, properties, or executive team.

In 2009, after several years of no updates, the skeletal website was removed, apparently ending the lifetime of Sybaritic Retreats.

According to domain records, the Sybaritic Retreats' website was attached to Ken Simms, a veteran travel and hospitality executive who runs a membership travel club called FrugalRich, where members pay a membership fee and receive discounts at participating resorts and hotels.

This type of structure is commonly not considered a destination club.
