Spring Ridge Club

A man once said "For the rich, there is therapy. For the rest of us, there is fishing." The Spring Ridge Club looks to let the rich join the rest of us with their Pennsylvania based club.

Closely modeled after the destination club industry where members join by paying a membership deposit that is used to purchase resort real estate, Spring Ridge Club members pay a membership deposit that is used to purchase and lease streams and lakes in prime fishing areas. Just as destination club members get to access the resort real estate the club purchases, Spring Ridge Club members get access to pristine waters. In 2000, Founder Donnie Beaver began to study the private golf club industry and developed his fishing club around the model.

The largest problem the club has encountered to date is increasing legal pressures from non-members looking to keep waters public, specifically the Little Juniata River in Pennsylvania. According to Kathleen McGinty, Secretary of the Department of Environmental Protection, "The public is being denied an opportunity to enjoy one of the countless natural resources that this state is obligated to protect on behalf of its 13 million residents. There is no legal basis for any individual to be excluded from the lawful use of this stretech of the Little Juniata River. This case is about protecting the rights of the public to use and enjoy what rightfully belongs to them."

Beaver's retort was "We have done extensive research over the past three years into the private property rights of riparian landowners in the Commonwealth of Pennyslvania and are well prepared to defend ourselves against these baseless claims."

Spring Ridge Club is partnered with the Colorado based Alpine River Club, a near identical club with a focus in the Rocky Mountain region.
