Ski Destinations Notes From The Club
Created for a small group of just 90 skiers, Ski Destinations would give members access to five luxury ski properties. Based out of Utah, the young club would purchase their first property in either Alta or Park City with the rest of the club's properties introduced as new members joined the club. While the club planned to remain fluid and evaluate properties based on member demands, the club outlined the five properties that would be made available to members as:
- Alta, Utah
- Park City, Utah
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming
- Steamboat Springs, Colorado
- Big Sky, Montana
Each member would have two weeks of annual access to the club's properties: one week during the popular ski season and one week during the off-season.
The unique reservation model compared to the more standard destination club structure, where members can typically make reservations during any season, was joined by a unique pricing design. Rather than paying a partially refundable membership deposit to join like most destination clubs, Ski Destinations members would pay a membership deposit for five years of membership with the club.
Memberships were available for $80,000 for the five years of membership, effectively creating a structure where five years of annual dues at $16,000 per year were paid at the time of joining.
This model would be identical to the one used by Ski Destinations' companion club, Fly Fishing Destinations. "What is Ski Destinations LLC?" asked the club. "It's a Membership Club that is simple and enjoyable. A Ski Destinations Club Membership gives you, your family, friends and guests two weeks of access for five consecutive years to beautiful custom built homes at five different ski resort locations. Each year your access moves to a new location. Winter and summer activities are spectacular. Services provided are extensive and customized to your personal requests."
Unfortunately, Ski Destinations would be unable to reach their initial goal of ten members and subsequently would not purchase their first club residence. Due to their limited time in the destination club industry, no notes from the club are available.
