Simplicity International Properties
Created for just a small group of members based primarily out of Connecticut, Simplicity International would plan to accept just 36 members. "Only these 36 families will have primary access to this treasured portfolio of homes composed of fine properties in Nantucket, Massachusetts; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Manchester Village, Vermont; South Beach, Florida; Sunapee Lake, New Hampshire; and Nevis, located in the West Indies next to St. Kitts," wrote the club.
"Perhaps the best part about Simplicity is that your second home will grow into your third, fourth and fifth homes. As a club, there is no limit to how many homes we can and will acquire. As a member, there is no limit to how many homes you can and will use. Our properties will be located in some of the best locations around the world. Whether you prefer sand between your toes, snow beneath your skis, the bright city lights or the bright greens on the golf course, Simplicity will have the homes to make all your vacationing dreams a reality."
In time, expansion clubs were planned to be launched out of Boston and New York.
Like many other destination clubs, Simplicity International would give members access to travel options outside of the core group of properties.
"We have selected over 1000 of the best hotels and inns around the globe for your use and enjoyment," wrote the club. "For fourteen nights per year use of one standard room is included in your Membership with upgrades offered in a number of locations."
In addition, Simplicity International would offer an "Adventures" program of special tours around the world. Included in this collection was:
- Cody, Wyoming - Ranch Visit
- County Kilkenny, Ireland - Country Estate Training
- Galapagos - The Galapagos Adventure
- Ambergris Caye, Belize - Victoria House Fishing Retreat
- Tuscany, Italy - Toscana Saporita Cooking School
- Southeast, Alaska - Natural History Cruise
- Napa, California - Sonomato Napa Golf Adventure
Just months after their launch in January of 2005, Simplicity International was "snapped up" by a large resort development. Over the course of the subsequent year, Simplicity International was abandoned and no news from the club was available. In August of 2006, John Schopfer, the club's inaugural President and COO, reacquired Simplicity from the development, but despite being in the hands of one of its former executives, Simplicity would venture away from the destination club space. Instead, Simplicity International would become a resort real estate development company, concluding their time in the sector.
