Simplicity International Membership Pricing
"We have evaluated virtually every angle of vacation expense. These are the real details that demonstrate the value that Simplicity offers."
"For all of the experiences that Simplicity provides, including unlimited multihomes use, world travel and accommodating service, you will truly only pay a fraction of the cost of any comparable vacation option. In fact, we don't believe there is a comparable option. Simplicity was founded as a means to get more for less...for life."
Simplicity International would launch their upstart destination club to the market in January of 2005 following a private introduction late in 2004. According to the club, within the first week, they had sold out of their first tier of memberships. Despite the "International" moniker, Simplicity would actually market primarily to a core group of just 36 members near their headquarters in Connecticut.
"Only these 36 families will have primary access to this treasured portfolio of homes composed of fine properties in Nantucket, Massachusetts; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; Manchester Village, Vermont; South Beach, Florida; Sunapee Lake, New Hampshire; and Nevis, located in the West Indies next to St. Kitts," the club would say.
Like other leading destination clubs of their generation, such as the Abercrombie & Kent Destination Clubs and Private Escapes, members of Simplicity International would enjoy unlimited annual access to the club's collection of vacation properties.
Unlike these other clubs, Simplicity International did not charge a per night fee for every night in residence.
Each of the club's membership plans did allow members unlimited annual travel, but with different reservation windows and usage privileges. Membership prices ranged from $285,000 to $350,000.
Less than six months after their public launch, Simplicity International was "snapped up" by a large resort development. Over the course of the year, the club was abandoned and John Schopfer, the club's inaugural President and COO, reacquired Simplicity.
Rather than returning to the destination club industry under one of its former executives, Simplicity would venture away from the destination club space and instead would become a resort real estate development company, concluding the destination club chapter of their story.
