Portofino Club Benefits Wings Over the Rockies at Air & Space Museum Event
Date: December 23, 2003
The Portofino Club proudly supported "The Wright Stuff: A Toast to Orville and Wilbur" celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Wright Brothers' historic flight. The charity event was held on Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum in Denver, Colorado. All proceeds benefited the museum, which is a division of the Aviation & Space Center of the Rockies.
Guests enjoyed walking through the museum's interactive exhibits and having their photos taken in a true-to-life simulation of a fighter jet cockpit. Honorary chair for the event was Governor Bill Owens, with more than 800 of the city's most prestigious society in attendance, including Denver Mayor, John Hickenlooper.
The highlight of the evening was Larry and Cheryl Romrell winning the live auction bid for a five-night stay in the Portofino Club's Cabo del Sol, Mexico, home. This auction item raised a total of $4,400 to benefit Wings Over the Rockies. "We were pleased to donate a stay in one of the Portofino Club's homes to such a worthwhile organization," commented Ed Anderson, Portofino Club President and CEO.
