Olympic Skier Billy Kidd Joins Advisory Board of Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent

Date: September 29, 2003

Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, www.PrivateRetreats.com, the worldʼs premiere destination club, announced today that Olympic skier Billy Kidd has become a member of the advisory board.

The Olympic Medalist and former World Champion will also serve as a spokesperson for Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent.

Kidd, Director of Skiing at Steamboat Ski Resort in Colorado, grew up in Stowe, Vermont. He and teammate Jimmie Heuga made ski history when they won Silver (Kidd) and Bronze (Heuga) medals at the 1964 Austria Winter Olympic Games, making them the first American men to win Olympic medals in alpine skiing.

In 1970, Kidd achieved another “first” by becoming the first US man to win a Gold medal in the World Championships, in Val Gardena, Italy.

Now in his 33rd year as Steamboatʼs skiing ambassador, Kidd also oversees The Billy Kidd Performance Center where he coaches, writes about the sport, and leads corporate ski outings. Wearing his ever-present Stetson and known for his smooth skiing style, Kidd is considered by Skiing Magazine to be one of the sportʼs most influential figures.

William Elliott, President of Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent, commented, “We are extremely excited to have Billy Kidd join our Advisory Board. His experience and expertise combined with his enthusiasm is a tremendous asset in shaping future Club developments. Having the insight of a professional skier will enhance our Members ski experiences dramatically.”

“I am looking forward to working with Private Retreats by Abercrombie & Kent,” said Kidd. “The Club is an innovative, modern vacation concept. The sport of skiing has taken me to many of the premiere resorts in the world. My goal is to help provide Club Members with a ski experience that will be remembered for a lifetime.”

Billy Kidd will serve on the advisory board with additional responsibilities including endorsements, hospitality activities and member Ski solutions.
