The Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics make up one of the most storied rivalries in sports. Bird versus Magic. Kareem versus Parish. Wilt versus Russell. Between the two franchises, well over 30 championship banners have been raised, accounting for more than half of every NBA Championship. Last night the two faced off yet again with the Lakers coming out victorious, an unfortunate outcome for the world's second largest destination club, Ultimate Escapes.

Celtics' Coach Doc Rivers has long been a member of the club, joining in 2006 prior to the Ultimate Resort and Private Escapes merger.

"Ultimate was created exclusively for members just like Doc, those who have busy family lives as well as demanding careers," said Ultimate Escapes President and Chief Executive Officer Jim Tousignant when Rivers joined Ultimate Resort. "Doc Rivers joins a growing base of Ultimate Resort club members who are used to luxurious lifestyles and are drawn to the club’s intimacy and flexible access to multi-million dollar private residences in great destination locations, combined with five-star concierge service around the clock."

"It's one club, different locations, and it meets the different needs for me and my family and my friends," said Rivers about his Ultimate Escapes' membership. "It is a perfect choice for me. Number one, it is the best value out there. You look at the other clubs, it is a great value. More importantly, they strive to be the best. They want to take care of you, they have great locations, and it is an exclusive club. It is a club that you would want to be a part of."

Following the Celtics and Rivers defeat of the Lakers in 2008, Tousignant congratulated the coach saying, "As a member of Ultimate Escapes since 2006, we’re excited to recognize him for this outstanding achievement. Now that Doc has vanquished the Lakers, his toughest challenge will be deciding which of the 150 UE destinations to take his family on vacation to relax and rejuvenate after his historic season!"

Rivers may soon have the opportunity to visit more Ultimate Escapes residences in the near future as many believe that the prized coach may be mulling retirement to spend more time with his family, one of the main reasons that others join a destination club. On the other end of the bench last night is Phil Jackson, also considering retirement. Maybe Doc can make some introductions.
