The Hideaways Club Introduces Two Properties In South Africa
By: Destination Club News Date: September 11, 2009
The Hideaways Club, once described as the "club run by Europeans, for Europeans," has added two new residences to their growing portfolio in South Africa: Villa Arabella and Villa Steenberg.
Earlier in the year, we spoke with The Hideaways Club following a partial sale of their club when investors Jonathan Feuer and Nick Bettany both purchased a ten percent stake in the organization. With the new capital, we were told the club would expand into both Africa and Asia. With the addition of these two residences in South Africa and plans to add Phuket in the near future, it seems the club is well on their way to achieving this lofty goal less than six months.
Giving members views across the estate to the largest natural lagoon in South Africa, Villa Arabella is roughly an hour outside of Cape Town International. Located within a gated community, the Arabella golf course has been rated as the top course in the Western Cape according to the 2008 Golf Digest Awards. Spanning four bedrooms, the home sleeps eight comfortably and includes a living and dining area overlooking the heated pool and garden. The first floor includes a spacious lounge and bar while the ground level includes the bedrooms and kitchen.
Villa Steenberg rests just 30 minutes from Cape Town International, located in the heart of the Steenberg Estate. Opposite one of the fairways on the championship golf course, Steenberg also is one of the world's most acclaimed wine estates. Sleeping six across the properties three bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and shower rooms, Villa Steenberg counts three outdoor areas: a garden, patio swimming pool with privacy wall, and a courtyard leading to the front door. Air-conditioned throughout, large windows and patio doors are incorporated into the design to allow for nature light to flow across the villa.
Taking a financial focus to their destination club model, members exclusively own the property company. Memberships are actually a share in this Gibraltar-registered property company which owns all of the residences. Members receive an annual allotment of destination points that are used to make reservations to properties within the portfolio, with longer stays and more popular travel times requiring more points.
