The Discovery Club Adds New Winter Getaways
By: Destination Club News Date: July 26, 2010
"So it may be the middle of summer and the chilly days of winter may be the furthest thing from your mind, however now is a great time to be thinking about your winter getaways for this year," writes The Discovery Club, one of Canada's emerging destination clubs.
While tank tops and flip flops may be in greater rotation than the goggles and snow boats buried in the closet, the upcoming ski season will soon be just around the corner. Despite the warm weather, the club added a group of new ski destinations that are sure to delight the members that classify themselves as "ski bums."
The Peaks Resort - Telluride, Colorado Currently undergoing renovations until the middle of August, The Peaks Resort remains open during the summer, proving itself the all season travel location that many have found. The resort includes everything from suites to five bedroom penthouses, each meticulously crafted with the guests' needs in mind.
The Arrabelle at Vail Square - Vail, Colorado The largest ski mountain in North America at 5,289 acres, Vail counts seven bowls, backcountry skiing in Blue Sky Basin, and slopes for both the novice and expert. The 300 days of sunshine each year is only surpassed by the amount of annual snowfall, averaging nearly 350 inches per year.
Jerome Hotel - Aspen, Colorado Well over a century old, Hotel Jerome mixes the spirit of the mountain with old world elegance. Some have said, "If you haven't been to the Jerome, you haven't been to Aspen." Featuring 94 guest rooms and suites, the classic Victorian style has been preserved throughout, including such details as antique light fixtures, cut glass doorknobs, and etched cranberry glass.
Sky Hotel by Kimpton - Aspen, Colorado Described as "the epicenter of play and action in Aspen," Sky Hotel caters to all different enthusiasts, from skiers to hikers, snowboarders to general outdoorsmen. Amenities include in-room wireless high-speed internet access, terrycloth robes, and access to an on-property fitness center and outdoor, heated pool.
Waldorf Astoria Park City - Park City, Utah The ski-in, ski-out resort includes 175 guestrooms, surrounded by natural beauty and world class amenities such as a 24-hour fitness center, a 16,000 square foot spa, and 2,500 square feet of meeting space.
Unlike other destination clubs who typically own the vacation properties available to members, The Discovery Club partners with luxury travel providers, giving members access to resorts and five star hotels like those above. This type of structure allows the club to rapidly bring on new properties, constantly growing their collection of vacation options available to members.
There are a handful of different destination club models used, each with their own rewards and risks. If you would like to compare the different structures to find the one best for you, request a free copy of our Destination Club Guide, your resource for news on every destination club.
