The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club Donates School Supplies To Foster Children

Long summer days at the playground will soon be replaced by parent teacher conferences as the school year begins across the nation. The Ritz-Carlton Destination Club and Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas have partnered with the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Human Services to provide backpacks and other school essentials to children in the Division of Children and Families Foster Care Program. The backpacks will be filled with crayons, pens, calculators, notebooks, and other back to school items and presented to the foster care program today.

The Department of Human Services submitted a listed of needed items to The Ritz-Carlton, and employees from every department pitched in to provide the materials to 112 children. Students will also find a special item in their new backpacks: a personal note of encouragement for the school year.

"Our ladies and gentlemen are passionate about having the opportunity to make a positive impact in the future of our community’s children," said Marc Langevin, the General Manager of The Ritz-Carlton, St. Thomas. "Our donation places new backpacks into the hands of children who might not otherwise have the proper tools for success, and it is very rewarding to help them start the school year off on the right foot."

The club's "Backpacks for Success" program joins other philanthropic efforts by the club including The American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, the Boy Scouts Blue Marlin Fishing Tournament, Reef Fest, and community clean-up efforts across St. Thomas.

One of the destination club industry's newest entrants, the Ritz-Carlton Destination Club has two different membership options: Home Club and Portfolio. Home Club Membership is similar to the Ritz-Carlton's fractional ownership offering. Portfolio Membership is more closely mirrors a destination club structure where members have access to multiple vacation properties for one membership fee.
