New Destination Club Boundless Journeys Launches

The past several weeks have included the introductions of several new destination clubs just as one of the industry's longest tenured clubs has crumbled. The Ultimate Escapes bankruptcy has provided an opportunity for these upstart clubs to quickly build their base of members by absorbing members of the bankrupt club who have lost their upcoming travel reservations and faith in the club's ability to move forward, even after Ultimate Escapes announced that they had accepted a bid for the bulk of their assets. Second Home Destinations is still planning their official launch, and while their history comes from the bankruptcy of High Country Club, they have already introduced a special incentive to members of Ultimate Escapes. After months of considering an acquisition of Ultimate Escapes, Quintess instead decided to launch their second destination club: DUO, giving members discounts on the up-front membership fee. The third destination club to make their introduction in as many weeks is Boundless Journeys Club, the self proclaimed "destination club you've been waiting for."

Boundless Journeys ClubCreated by Matt Holmes and Doug Burger the pair bring an interesting background to the new club. Holmes is the owner of Boundless Journeys, an adventure travel and private tours company with vacations from Alaska to Zanzibar. Burger is described as a "destination club enthusiast" as a near decade long member, originally joining Abercrombie & Kent Destinations, going through the Tanner & Haley name change and bankruptcy, Ultimate Resorts acquisition and now Ultimate Escapes bankruptcy.

"Matt and I have been incubating a new club model ever since the first club failed in 2006," said Burger. "Boundless Journeys Club draws from all of the best attributes of the destination club lifestyle with none of the high stakes risk. There are no legacy issues, no debt and zero connection to past owners or senior executives from any failed destination clubs."

Unlike the majority of other destination clubs, Boundless Journeys Club proudly points out that they do not own the properties available to members and are owned independently outside of the club by "a collection of strategically aligned property owners, developers, resorts, and real estate investors." The club's property portfolio will consist of residences ranging from $1.5 million to in excess of $5 million, available on an unlimited basis for club members.

The Charter Membership offered will be available to the club's first 500 members with the initiation fee waived and a cap on annual dues at $5,000. Members will receive:

  • Unlimited access to any club properties
  • Dedicated travel planners and local concierges
  • 10% off Boundless Journey tours booked within 24 months of joining Boundless Journeys Club
  • 15% off the lowest published rate of any Sporting Adventure trips
