M Private Residences To Conduct Lottery For Kelowna Summer Reservations
By: Destination Club News Date: May 24, 2007
Located on Lake Okanagan and ideally located with easy access to the Kelowna International Airport, downtown, and Canada's largest indoor waterpark, M Private Residences' 3,600 square foot property in Kelowna has proven to be so popular that the club will institute two lotteries to determine access for the peak summer months.
Members of Canada's leading destination club received the following update about the process and dates:
As many of you are already aware, due to the high demand that we originally experienced for the Kelowna property in the summer months, M chose to block out this time period starting for the summer of 2008 and institute a lottery for the summer months.
The summer travel time for 2008 was split into ten one-week periods running from late June until early September. In order to equitably divide this time between all Members, these ten weeks have been split into two groups of five, which will constitute two separate lottery draws.
To allow for both Long Term and Short Term travel aspirations to this property, the first draw is set to occur in late June of 2007, with the second draw in February of 2008.
All Members will be receiving a further communication outlining the rules and regulations for the first draw during the first week of June, with the lottery scheduled to occur later in the month. This lottery will have no bearing on eligibility for either the Spring or Winter lotteries and is considered separate with a unique set of guidelines. Similar to the last Winter lottery held in March of this year, lottery ballot submissions for this draw will only be accepted on-line through our Members-only secure website.
The weeks that will be eligible to be distributed in the June 2007 lottery for the summer of 2008 at M’s Kelowna residence are as follows:
- June 27th, 2008 – July 4th, 2008
- July 11th, 2008 – July 18th, 2008
- July 25th, 2008 – August 1st, 2008
- August 8th, 2008 – August 15th, 2008
- August 22nd, 2008 – August 29th, 2008
These weeks and dates are set times and are non-negotiable. The remainder of weeks for the summertime at the Kelowna property will stay blocked out in the reservation calendar until the time of the second draw in February 2008 when they will be officially released.
Earlier this year, M Private Residences surpassed 100 members and has acquired properties in Las Vegas, Whistler, and France throughout the year, but the popular Kelowna remains one of the club's most attractive destinations.
Featuring four bedrooms and four and one half baths, the property also boasts a gourmet kitchen, flat screen televisions, BBQ area, two fireplaces, and a private boat lift.
One of the major advantages of destination club membership is the wide variety of destinations available to members, but one of the drawbacks is a lack of guaranteed availability. Understanding how clubs handle peak travel periods, like summer, spring break, and holidays, will help you better understand how you will be able to use the club and its amenities and if destination club membership is right for you.
