Golden Years Holidays, the first and only destination club designed specifically for those over 50 years old looking to enjoy "holidays for life," is planning to add new destinations to their collection of vacation experiences during the upcoming year.

Scheduled to become available in the early part of 2010, members will be able to navigate the Adriatic aboard the 60 foot 'Sealine T Series' motor yacht. Described as "the very best in contemporary yacht design," the ship will feature three elegantly furnished cabins, large decks, and a host of modern amenities.

For the golfer, Golden Years is planning on adding a villa at Campo Real Golf & Spa Resort, just 20 minutes from the Atlantic coast. Showcasing Portuguese architecture and quality finishes throughout, the residence will also include a private swimming pool, garden, and terrace overlooking the nearby fairways and vineyards.

Purchased by the Blandy family in 1885, Palheiro Estate has successfully transitioned from traditional farming to leisure and luxury. With views of the ocean and the city of Funchal, golf, sailing, and a long list of other activities are available to guests.

Comparing a membership with their destination club to an annuity, Golden Years Holidays gives members travel benefits for life. Members pay a variable rate to join that correlates with their age. Simply, the older you are when joining, the less you pay. Members receive an annual allotment of points that are used to make reservations, varying by the season and property selected.

While each of the three new additions are planned for introduction in 2010, point totals for each have yet to be created. For comparison's sake, a trip to Egypt ranges from 3,388 points to 3,833 points based on the dates requested while a trip to Mallorca starts at just 728 points. As the new options become available, so will additional information regarding the number of points required.

The advantage of a points based reservation structure as used by Golden Years Holidays is that members have the ability to travel as they wish, giving them full control over their travel habits. The downside is that members may exhaust many, or all, of their points if traveling during peak seasons, leaving an insufficient amount for any other travel with the club.

There are many different reservation structures used throughout the destination club sector, each with their own advantages and drawbacks. If you would care to learn more, request a free copy of our Destination Club Guide, your free resource for insight into purchasing a destination club membership.
