Golden Years Holidays Offers Free Holidays For Life Drawing

Date: September 24, 2009

Comparing their structure to a vacation annuity, Golden Years Holidays offers members holidays for life through their unique destination club model. Designed for the over 50 audience, Golden Years Holidays' members pay a variable membership cost based on their desired level of travel and their age when joining. In exchange, members receive "holidays for life" at Golden Years Holidays' collection of apartments, villas, hotels, tours, cruises, and other specialist holidays.

"Members are not restricted to self-catering holidays but are able to choose from an ever-changing variety of holidays, including fully serviced apartments and villas, hotels, cruises, tours and specialist holidays throughout the world," writes member and Chairman Bob Wilson OBE. "Members also enjoy, depending on the holiday selected, a wide range of complimentary benefits and, following a one-off purchase, there are no further charges ever."

A small asterisk follows the "no further charges ever" as members do have to pay an "Annual Administration Fee" that is currently set at £123.62 per year, just over $200 based on current conversion rates.

Limited to just 150 members who will be accepted into the club in 2009, Golden Years Holidays will hold a drawing on December 31, 2009 to find a winner of their "Free Holidays For Life Draw." To be eligible for the drawing, the winner must:

  • Be a UK citizen
  • Hold a current and valid UK passport
  • Be older than 50 years old by the drawing date
  • Own a UK property valued by a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors at more than £350,000 on the date of the draw.

Those that register before October 31, 2009 and Life Members who purchase an Annual Holiday Entitlement before November 31, 2009 will be entered into the drawing and Bob Wilson will select one lucky winner on New Year's Eve, with the winner receiving 4,000 annual points to use with the club. The lucky recipient can elect to add those 4,000 points to their membership or receive a full refund of their 2009 purchase.

The "holidays for life" isn't just Golden Years Holidays marketing speak. Members literally receive access to the club's amenities and points until they pass away. In the first year, the membership value is reduced by 40% by the club. The club then amortizes the remaining 60% in equal increments each year until the member's 69th birthday, at which point, the redemption value is equal to £0. If the member passes away prior to their 69th birthday, the remaining amortized funds are refunded to the member's estate. For those who surpass the 69 year old mark, they continue to travel for life.

Golden Years Holidays has their sights set high, planning on ultimately surpassing the 3,000 member mark and expanding throughout the world.
