Summer will soon be coming to an end and leaves will begin to change across the country. With this in mind, we compared three classically fall destinations in our property of the week, with Ultimate Escapes' residence in Lake George edging out the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club and Rocksure Property.

Ultimate Escapes Lake George"Lake George is without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw; formed by a contour of mountains into a basin...finely interspersed with islands, its water limpid as crystal, and the mountain sides covered with rich groves...down to the water-edge: here and there precipices of rock to checker the scene and save it from monotony." Attributed to Thomas Jefferson in 1791, Lake George has long remained one of the hidden travel gems the United States has to offer. Over 30 miles long and two miles wide, Lake George has become known as "The Queen of American Lakes" and due to federal and state conservation efforts, will remain primarily untouched into the future.

Part of Ultimate Escapes' Signature Club, the Sagamore spans nearly 5,500 square feet with four bedrooms and four and one half baths. The large home has its own collection of unique attractions sure to delight everyone in attendance, including its own wine cellar and theatre in the lower floor and hidden entrance into the fourth bedroom. The expansive wraparound porch makes for the perfect breakfast or barbeque location and the pool table remains one of the residence's most attractive amenities.

Despite its excellent location and benefits, the Sagamore is currently vacant for most of November and December, letting members make some last minute reservations to this off the beaten path destination.

Like many other destination clubs, Ultimate Escapes is currently looking to reduce their operational costs to better impact the economy. Earlier this month, Ultimate Escapes closed their Colorado branch, saving the club an estimated $3 million. The club has also brought on a Chief Restructuring Officer to help the club as they move forward.
