Located approximately 100 miles north of Nassau, the Abacos have been a staple beach residence for many destination clubs over the years for their pristine white sand beaches, warm climate, and easy access for US based members. For the last week, we have asked readers to cast their vote for their favorite Abaco property from three of the industry's leading clubs: Exclusive Resorts, Ultimate Escapes, and the Ritz-Carlton Destination Club. All with properties on the famed Winding Bay, this week's honor goes to Ultimate Escapes, capturing just shy of 50% of the vote.

Ultimate Escapes AbacoWith four bedroom and four baths, the 3,850 square foot home resides within Ultimate Escapes' Elite Club, the highest membership tier of the world's second largest destination club. The brilliant wood design features Brazilian mahogany verandahs for views of the beach. And if the ocean is too far away or if you don't sand between your toes, members can take a dip in the outdoor, heated pool.

While the residences may be spectacular, the wide reaching list of activities available to members is what draws members back year after year to The Abaco Club at Winding Bay. Managed by the Ritz-Carlton, the resort spans well over 500 acres of oceanfront estate. Championship golf, un-motorized water sports, a European spa and fitness center just start the list of available activities. Fishing, snorkeling, shopping, horseback riding, and tennis are also popular attractions, but relaxation is likely the most frequent event members participate in.

As the world's first publicly-traded destination club, Ultimate Escapes has ushered in a newfound sense of transparency within the sector and will report on the results of their first quarter of 2010 later this week. Last month, the club reported on their fourth quarter, saying that they were "really pleased" with how 2009 turned out for the club despite the poor market conditions faced by every destination club.

We will listen in to the upcoming Ultimate Escapes call and report later this week, so check back soon for more news about Ultimate Escapes and the rest of the destination club industry.
