From the pristine beaches and beautifully decorated temples to the exotic nightlife and Muay Thai martial arts, it is no wonder why Phuket has claimed the title of the pearl of south and continues to rise on the list of most popular vacation destinations in Southeast Asia. Our readers tend to agree as Phuket captured over 50% of our vote for destination club property of the week, defeating other vacation hot spots Tuscany and London, each available to members of Banyan Tree Private Collection.

Banyan Tree Private Collection PhuketDescribed as "the first asset-backed destination club in Asia," Banyan Tree Private Collection's two bedroom, double pool villa continually remains one of the most popular properties in the club's portfolio. At over 5,500 square feet, the residence is set against the Andaman Sea. In one of the most picturesque snapshots the destination club industry has to offer, travelers can retire to their bedroom, surrounded by a wading pool and infinity pool that stretch out to a tranquil lagoon.

While not the size of some of the world's largest destination clubs like Exclusive Resorts or Ultimate Escapes, Banyan Tree Private Collection has made their intention known in recent months that they wanted to be named in the upper echelon of the sector.

Over the past six months, Banyan Tree has expanded their property portfolio with the addition of new associate villas available to members, including villas in Morocco, Mayakoba, Bangkok, and other popular destinations. A partnership with AMEX followed just days later, giving AMEX Platinum cardholders discounts on best available rates, food, beverages, and even complimentary green fees. The club started 2010 with arguably their most exciting news to date in the form of a partnership with The Hideaways Club, Europe's largest destination club. Members of both Banyan Tree Private Collection and The Hideaways Club would have access to a total of 200 nights of reciprocal access to the other club's properties, adding destinations such as Spain, Switzerland, and France for Banyan Tree members.

Just over a week ago, Banyan Tree Private Collection turned their attention to the philanthropic side of their club, announcing a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity. The club is asking new members to donate $10,000 directly to Habitat for Humanity. Those that do so will receive a $10,000 discount on their individual membership, a dollar amount that Banyan Tree Private Collection will match in their own donation to Habitat.
