Exclusive Resorts VIP Chicago Cubs Experience Kicks Off
By: Destination Club News Date: September 2, 2010
It doesn't look like the Chicago Cubs will be making their way into the playoffs, but that is half of the charm of "The Lovable Losers." Yesterday, members of Exclusive Resorts began checking into their residences in Trump Chicago for one of the club's most popular member only events, letting guests enjoy a once in a lifetime baseball experience at Wrigley Field. By February, the event was already approaching capacity, and not surprisingly, the event has long been sold out as the festivities began.
The highlight of the event will take place today when members will get a behind the scenes tour of Wrigley Field, the second oldest active major league ballpark. Members will access the home and visitor locker rooms, press boxes, and underground areas, punctuated by having the famous Chicago Cubs marquee personalized with members' name for a memorable photo opportunity.
Members will also be taken down to play catch and hit on one of baseball's most iconic fields, known for its ivy covered brick wall outfield and hand turned scoreboard.
Known as the "Friendly Confines," Exclusive Resorts members will be able to test that name on Friday in a battle between the Cubs and New York Mets. Members will head back down to the field for an up close viewing of batting practice before enjoying the game from a private suite at a fully catered event.
Exclusive Resorts hosts a number of these member only events throughout the year. Other upcoming events include Kids Take Manhattan, a unique event designed specifically for younger members, and an annual fall Napa/Sonoma wine tour.
The Chicago Cubs are one of the most popular franchises in the world with a sizable connection to the destination club industry. Donn Davis is the Co-Founder and President of Revolution LLC and sits on the Board of Directors at Exclusive Resorts. At just 29, Davis was the youngest team attorney in Major League Baseball where he served as the chief negotiator of player contracts for the Cubs.
The Ricketts family purchased the Cubs last year. In the destination club world, J. Joe Ricketts was the Founder of the short lived, ultra-luxury destination club Ciel. After failing to purchase the assets of Tanner & Haley for over $100 million, Ciel quietly ceased operations but now the Ricketts family is at the top of the Cubs franchise.
Events such as these are just one of the many reasons that luxury travelers join a destination club over other options such as second home ownership or five-star hotels.
