Exclusive Resorts Wrigley Field and Chicago Cubs VIP Tour Approaches Capacity
By: Destination Club News Date: February 5, 2010
With an estimated 100 million tuning into the Super Bowl this weekend, some Exclusive Resorts members have already planned a once in a lifetime baseball experience in early September with one of the game's most storied franchises: the Chicago Cubs. "For our members who are die-hard Chicago Cubs fan or baseball fans in general, this is the event for you. Gather the kids, a group of friends, extended family…whoever, and join us for an immersive baseball experience like none other," the world's largest destination club writes.
A part of the club's member only events, from September 1 - 5, members will be able to enjoy a VIP experience that includes fine dining, amazing seating, and even on field activities. While still months off, the popular event is already approaching its capacity.
Beginning Wednesday, the first of September, the experience kicks off with a members-only reception at The Signature Room. Not only one of Chicago's finest restaurants, The Signature Room also featuring stunning views of the city and an excellent cuisine.
The following day, members will take a behind the scenes tour of Wrigley Field, the second oldest active major league ballpark. Members will be able to tour the home and visitor locker rooms, press boxes, and underground areas, punctuated by having the famous Chicago Cubs marquee personalized with members' name for a memorable photo opportunity. But while this alone would make any baseball fan jealous, it isn't even the highlight of the day for Exclusive Resorts' members. Guests will be taken down to play catch and hit on the same field where greats like Ernie Banks, Ryne Sandberg, Hack Wilson, Andre Dawson, and Fergie Jenkins all played, seeing the stadium and famed outfield ivy from a whole new perspective.
Friday is game time as the Cubs battle the New York Mets. Exclusive Resorts' members will be able to go back down to the field for an up close viewing of batting practice before enjoying the game in the lap of luxury in a private suite. For the first pitch, members get to watch the game under the bright lights and eat their fair share of ballpark favorites at the fully catered event.
While one of the most beloved teams in the history of baseball, the Chicago Cubs do have a special place in the heart of one Exclusive Resorts' executives: Donn Davis. The Co-Founder of Revolution LLC alongside Steve Case, Davis serves as President of Revolution and sits on the Board of Directors at Exclusive Resorts. At just 29, Davis was the youngest team attorney in Major League Baseball where he served as the chief negotiator of player contracts for the Cubs.
Other member events throughout 2010 include a wine tour in Napa, a sailing event reminiscent of the America's Cup, a Scuba adventure off the Grand Cayman coast, and even an Amazing Race style journey in Colorado, complete with former participants from the television show.
Built around the country club model, other destination clubs are bringing a more community component to their members. Equity Estates, one of the industry's fastest emerging equity based clubs, announced a 20 city tour to meet with prospective and current members alike. During the kick-off event in Atlanta, Equity Estates' members had the "opportunity to share vacation stories and network with one another" and compare their "favorite EE properties, vacation experiences and wish lists for future destinations." The Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club hosted their first annual member meeting last year, bringing club members and executives together to discuss the financial position of the club, participation from the then recently selected Board Members, and a night out at a popular Chicago club.
