Everlands Purchases Lone Mountain Ranch

Date: February 4, 2008

First homesteaded in 1915 as a cattle and hay ranch, the Lone Mountain Ranch would eventually be purchased by Bob and Vivian Schaap in 1977. The pair have owned the ranch for over 30 years and only now are willing to part with it. Bob and Vivian have drafted a letter outlining how the famed ranch has been sold to Everlands, a new destination club focused on conservation, that the couple believe will help maintain the spirit of their popular ranch.

Vivian and I want to tell you how much we sincerely appreciate your loyalty and support over the years. It is folks like you and our fantastic crew that have made it possible to mold the Ranch into what many consider to be one of the nation`s top family guest ranch and cross country skiing destination properties. Viv and I are very, very pleased to announce the successful sale of Lone Mountain Ranch effective July 1 of this year. For some time we have been looking for a way to pass the Lone Mountain Ranch torch to a successor that would be likely to continue our heritage, the spirit and the quality operation of the Ranch.

Everlands is the creator and sponsor of the Everlands Conservation Prize, which will award a large monetary prize each year to individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to conservation at the grass roots level. Everlands has partnered in this effort with many of the worlds most out standing conservation groups in this regards. They are in the process of acquiring other small, historically significant lodges and properties across the globe with the intent of forming this collection into a club with a global membership which will own these Youth Adventures program has so much to offer kids, they beg their parents to bring them back year after year!

This Fall we have introduced some special packages that focus on a particular activity. Targeting specific interests...birding and wildlife viewing, fly fishing, mountain biking in Yellowstone Country and women only `Skirts and Spurs` horseback weeks, these new programs are drawing a lot of interest. You can read more about these packages in this newsletter or give us a call and we can fill you in on the details. Of course, we will continue to offer our popular multi-sport great jewels in trust for future generations. Several have already been purchased including The Point on Lake Saranac New York and Castle Hot Springs in Arizona. By the end of this year Everlands is scheduled to close on 8 properties. Everlands is continuing the global search for the world`s best small lodges and retreats, committing themselves to retaining the attributes that have made each property unique and special, assuring their members of a consistently high quality, very personalized, but unique experience at each of their properties.

Viv and I are delighted that Everlands considers Lone Mountain Ranch, with our history of service and devotion to our guests, to be one of their signature assets. The ranch will continue to operate as it is until it is placed into the membership`s hands. Everlands understands the importance of continuing the Ranch`s cross country skiing tradition. Lone Mountain Ranch’s trails will remain publicly accessible. Viv and I will continue our involvement in the Ranch, but will no longer oversee the operations on a day to day basis. We plan to be at the Ranch at least once each week to visit with our guests and to help with the transition. Ennion Williams, who most of you know so well, continues to serve as the Ranch`s very capable General Manager. All of our staff has been retained, and the Ranch continues to operate seamlessly and with great optimism. Guest satisfaction remains very high. Everlands members will be able to travel to far-flung locations, knowing that they will meet interesting and stimulating guests with similar interests and have experiences that meet or surpass their expectations.

Many of our guests have vacation homes–or have considered the possibility–and over the years, many guests have asked if they might ever have an opportunity to own a small piece of Lone Mountain Ranch. A membership in Everlands will give you that equity ownership in Lone Mountain and in all of the club properties. This equity ownership comes with many of the advantages of owning a vacation home, but without the emergencies, repairs, expenses, hassles or the restriction to vacationing in one place. It would be a delight for Viv and me to introduce any of our loyal guests to the Everlands concept and to the people there who are working with us to make this dream a reality.

If you would like to learn more about Everlands, you may visit their website at everlandslife.com. You are our friends, our supporters and an irreplaceable part of the Lone Mountain Ranch community. We believe that this is a chance to preserve that heritage for many generations and it would be wonderful to see you participate in the future of this great, last, best place.

With enthusiasm and warm personal regards,

Bob and Vivian

As stated by Bob and Vivian, Everlands is taking a unique approach to their destination club. Rather than acquiring single family homes or villas like the vast majority of other clubs, Everlands is purchasing large retreats such as Lone Mountain Ranch, capable of housing multiple members at one time. In addition to use by members, non-members will continue to be able to access Lone Mountain Ranch, and the other Everlands' properties, until the club reaches 100 members.

Until the club reaches that membership goal, the club will continue to receive non-member rental fees to help revenue.

To join Everlands, members currently only have to pay 15% of their total membership deposit. Once the club reaches the magical 100 member mark, the remaining 85% will come due.

Everlands was officially launched in November of last year. Like every destination club, many questions should be asked before joining.
