By: Destination Club News
Date: April 2, 2007

Scheduled to take place from April 18th through the 19th, The Destination Club and Private Residence Club Industry Symposium will showcase numerous industry insiders and executives and discuss a series of important discussion items that factor into the growth and stability of the destination club industry and its players.

Destination Clubs and Private Residence Clubs (PRCs) are among the fastest growing segments of the luxury real estate and travel markets.

Today there are over 180 PRCs and over 20 Destination Clubs generating $2 billion in revenue, with 2007 delivering continued growth.

2006 was a turbulent year for the Destination Club industry, highlighted by the launch of several new clubs, considerable consolidation and a high profile bankruptcy. The industry is still in its infancy, however, and business models are constantly evolving.

Currently there are an estimated 4,400 member households across all Destination Clubs, representing a tiny portion of the total potential market which is estimated to be from 50,000 to as many as 500,000 member households.

The Destination Club and Private Residence Club Industry Symposium plans to discuss numerous agenda items to help industry executives help grow their respective clubs and to strengthen the overall health of the industry. These topics include:

  • CEO panels
  • Financing
  • Sales and marketing
  • Business models, scale and scope
  • Regulatory issues and industry guidelines
  • Mergers and acquisitions
  • Business planning and market entry
  • Industry best practices
  • Property development and location strategies
  • Operational and management considerations
  • Strategic alliances
  • Mapping the future of the markets

In addition to these topics, the symposium has already announced a who's who list of destination club executives who will speak at the conference, including:

For the industry to continue its growth, clubs will need to work together to exchange best practices and market the destination concept as much as they market their own individual clubs. The rising tide lifts all ships. Check back soon for more news about the symposium and for other news about the destination club sector.
