Destination Cellars Supports Early Detection and Cure for Cancer
By: Destination Club News Date: October 18, 2009
"Often I'm privileged to develop strong bonds with my clients, as I learn their passions, meet their family and friends and help develop custom wine experiences catering to their personalities," said David Keuhner, the Founder and CEO of Destination Cellars, a leading destination club focused on providing members luxury wine experiences around the globe. "Sometimes my best clients become close friends as is the case with Chad MacDonald. I'm thrilled to support a cause so near and dear to his heart that affects so many Americans and is especially pertinent to wine enthusiasts, vineyard workers and owners, and golfers who are regularly exposed to the sun more than most."
The cause that Chad MacDonald so adamantly supports is the need to raise awareness of early detection and finding a cure for melanoma, one of the nation's most deadly and fastest growing cancers with an estimated 69,000 Americans expected to be diagnosed in 2009 and claiming the life of one person every hour.
MacDonald, a Destination Cellars board member, along with his three sons created The Brenda MacDonald Melanoma Research Foundation after losing Brenda to melanoma. Over the past four years, the foundation has raised in excess of $1,000,000 used to increase awareness through its association with The Melanomas Research Foundation and to award grants to scientists helping to find a cure.
On November 7, Destination Cellars will sponsor the First Annual Wings of Hope Gala at 7:00 p.m. Eastern at the Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Virginia. Described as "an evening of diamonds, champagne, casino gaming, silent and live auctions, music, dancing, fine cuisine and award winning wines," the event will help raise funds to support the cause. Destination Cellars has, and will continue to, reach out to its clients for donations for the event. To date, the club has already received donations including:
- Wine from leading wineries, including Kosta Browne, Terlato Wine Group, Lail Vineyards, and Castello Banfi
- Autographed memorabilia from PGA Tour Pro Jerry Kelly
- 3L bottle of Monogram from Domaine Serene
- Box seats to an Atlanta Braves game from Career Sports Entertainment
- Round of golf for three from PGA Tour Pro Parker McLachlin and LPGA Tour Pro Meaghan Francella
For those that register for the exclusive event before October 23, tickets will be available for $125 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Destination Cellars is not the first, and hopefully is not the last, destination club to assist in cancer research and awareness. Late last year, Everlands donated a week long stay at the Lone Mountain Ranch in Big Sky for the University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundations Women's Board's Black and White Ball. Earlier this month, Everlands and Ultimate Escapes announced a partnership that offered members of Everlands preferred pricing on an Ultimate Escapes membership, yet another destination club that has contributed to cancer research.
Congratulations to Destination Cellars for supporting this worthwhile cause and we look forward to publishing more news regarding the event once it takes place. Check back soon to learn more.
