Destination Cellars Hosts South Africa Wine Fundraising Reception
By: Destination Club News Date: May 12, 2010
For the second time this month, Destination Cellars, the destination club industry's only wine themed travel club, will host a private wine event. Earlier in the month, the club provided attendees in Washington DC with exquisite food and wines of Kosta Browne, recently selected by Wine Spectator as one of the "Best Ever" Pino Noirs produced in Sonoma County and a multiple time selection as a Top 100 Wine in the World. Also in our nation's capital, Destination Cellars will host an exclusive event tomorrow evening to support the United States South Africa Wine Foundation.
At the Washington DC offices of Nixon Peabody, the club's fundraising reception will feature Warwick and Vilafonté wines from Stelenbosch, South Africa. The United States South Africa Wine Foundation was created to provide aid to the post-apartheid transformation of the South African wine industry, assisting in the development of skills for disadvantaged South African wine workers through internships within the US wine industry.
Known throughout the destination club sector for their luxury wine experiences, Destination Cellars has also established their name through these philanthropic endeavors. Last year, the club sponsored the First Annual Wings of Hope Gala in Potomac Falls, Virginia to support cancer research and detection. The event was part of The Brenda MacDonald Melanoma Research Foundation, created by Destination Cellars' Board Member Chad MacDonald and their three sons after losing Brenda to melanoma. "Often I'm privileged to develop strong bonds with my clients, as I learn their passions, meet their family and friends and help develop custom wine experiences catering to their personalities," said David Keuhner, the Founder and CEO of Destination Cellars. "Sometimes my best clients become close friends as is the case with Chad MacDonald. I'm thrilled to support a cause so near and dear to his heart that affects so many Americans and is especially pertinent to wine enthusiasts, vineyard workers and owners, and golfers who are regularly exposed to the sun more than most."
Members of Destination Cellars are provided luxury wine experiences around the globe, including private dinners, cellars tours, and winery access traditionally reserved exclusively for sommeliers. Just a few short weeks ago, Destination Cellars also unveiled their new online wine portal, giving clients the ability to purchase wine directly from various winery partners, RSVP for private wine tours, make inquiries about customized wine experiences, and learn more about food and wine pairings. These benefits have allowed the club to partner with many notable clubs within the destination club industry, including Exclusive Resorts, Quintess, and The Markers Club.
We look forward to hearing how tomorrow's event turns out and we wish the best to Destination Cellars and the United States South Africa Wine Foundation in this fundraising initiative.
