DUO by Quintess Gives New Members Free Week of Travel

By: Destination Club News
Date: December 16, 2010

DUO by Quintess has already introduced their pre-launch pricing, offering early adopters 50% savings from what post-launch pricing will settle at. In addition to the sizeable price savings, the new destination club is sweetening the pot by giving members that join before the end of the year a free week of club access during 2011.

"This is the perfect time of year to become a member and start planning a lifetime of amazing travel experiences for you, your family and friends," the club communicated earlier this week. "Plus, to celebrate the holidays, we are offering exceptional terms and pricing on all three Clubs through December. And, as our gift to you, if you join before December 31, 2010, we will give you one complimentary week of Club travel to use in 2011."

We likely wouldn't have seen the launch of DUO by Quintess this year had it not been for the Ultimate Escapes bankruptcy in September. For some time, DUO had been in the works and part of the master plan for Club Holdings, the club's parent company, but the 1,000 plus members formerly attached to Ultimate Escapes presented a unique opportunity. DUO expedited their launch and unveiled a special offer to Ultimate Escapes members, further discounting membership prices and giving members the opportunity to receive a portion of their membership deposit lost at Ultimate Escapes refunded to them.

Since introducing the custom Ultimate Escapes offer, DUO has kept themselves in the headlines with more and more information about the new club being revealed. The ski season already upon us, DUO added Stowe to their property portfolio, the first ski destination available to members. It was then announced that DUO members would have access to Tour Club properties, opening a substantial stable of golf destinations to travelers. The young destination club also hosted a webinar to better detail their model and the financial focus that they have adopted, focusing on how annual dues paid by members cover the club's operational costs.

"A number of destination clubs were built from the beginning with the idea of very low annual dues and that companies would make money by investing in real estate and retaining the gains, implied or actual, when the homes were sold," said Ben Addoms, Co-Founder of Quintess, during the recent webinar. "To be sustainable, a club has to have dues that cover operational expenses. Today, Quintess member dues cover all the operating costs of the company, DUO member dues will cover all the operating costs of the company, and Tour Club member dues will cover all the operating costs of the company."
