Boundless Journeys Club Positions Themselves As Club For Destination Club Refugees

There are well over 1,000 former members of Ultimate Escapes who are currently without their upcoming travel reservations. The bankruptcies at High Country Club, Solstice, and LUSSO Collection all totaled into the hundreds of members. Boundless Journeys Club, a new destination club that doesn't require a large, up-front membership deposit, has announced themselves as the "destination club for destination club refugees."

"There are countless options currently out there for members of Ultimate Escapes and the other clubs that have filed for bankruptcy in recent years," said Co-founder Doug Burger. "Candidly, we believe that another major destination club bankruptcy will happen and we don't want members of these already failed clubs to join another sinking ship."

"I've been there. I was a member of Tanner & Haley. I transferred to Ultimate Escapes hoping to get my membership deposit back while still getting the same destination club experience I had come to expect. Now I am going through yet another bankruptcy like the rest of the Ultimate Escapes members. Fortunately, this led to the genesis of Boundless Journeys Club."

"What we suggest for these cast off members is joining Boundless Journeys Club for one year and see how the industry plays out. We are confident that they will fall in love with our value, properties, and services and stay with us for years to come, but after their year with us, they are free to walk away without any penalty and can reevaluate the destination club landscape to see just who will be around in the long-term."

Boundless Journeys Club requires no up-front membership fees and instead only requires a $5,000 annual dues payment. In return, members receive discounts at the club's collection of properties valued at between $1.5 and $5 million. Earlier this month, the club introduced their launch property portfolio, including residences in Los Cabos, Deer Valley, and Hawaii amongst others. A group of sporting adventures are also now available as well.

This shift towards a no ownership model is picking up steam in the destination club sector as it has been adopted by Boundless Journeys Club and Demeure, the club that has just recently announced the completed acquisition of select assets from the bankrupt Ultimate Escapes. The Discovery Club, one of Canada's largest clubs comes from the same philosophy, has outlined their no ownership model to us in the past. Is this the new trend for the destination club industry?
