Moncasa Private Club Residences

Entering the market in 2008, Moncasa Private Club Residences would offer members exclusive access to a collection of residences throughout the Caribbean, a first in the history of the destination club sector.

"For us the Caribbean makes a lot of sense" said Moncasa Capital President John Collins. "It is close to over 160 million North Americans and provides the fundamentals of what our brand is all about. We have three legs: equity, five-star hospitality services and live-like-a-local lifestyle experiences".

"We are not just a real estate company or a typical destination club focused on solely acquiring homes," said Collins when the club was introduced in 2008. "Moncasa Private Club Residences is a global travel relational management services company, bringing our considerable consumer insight and experience to create a new paradigm of experiential travel with a compelling equity club model."

Planned to ultimately include 80 properties in 50 destinations, properties within Moncasa Private Club Residences would include "multi-million dollar homes and villas, plus suites in the most amazing Hotels and Resorts properties."

According to the club's launch press release:

  • Properties range from 800 sq ft studios to 6,000 sq ft villas located on legendary Caribbean beaches and golf courses.
  • Each residence comes with access to a luxury SUV.
  • Each home has optional in-home service (maid, butler, chef)
  • Portfolio of 80 unique properties.
  • Membership structure provides flexibility allowing members to trade weeks in favour of different locations or larger homes.
  • The Moncasa Experience program, headed by Jeff MacInnis, leader of the first team to sail the Northwest Passage, Eco-Challenge athlete, best selling author and professional speaker is available to members in search of a unique experience in which to enhance their vacation and their lives. Individual itineraries are created for each member based on their goals and managed with an in-location personal concierge.
  • Moncasa Private Club Residences remove the burden of full vacation property ownership by removing the hassles of maintenance, security and non-occupancy.

Based on the property type selected, members would be able to utilize a "flex plan" offered by the club to enjoy additional nights of annual access at smaller club residences or less annual access at larger, more extravagant properties. "For example, if you have a 28 day plan, you could exchange that for 56 days in a smaller property or exchange it for 14 days in a larger property," Collins told us. "You can even mix them up if you choose. The Club portfolio consists of four unique property types based on location and size. They are categorized for member's ease of use. So you can utilize some properties for two months, spend four weeks on the beach in the Cayman Islands in another, or perhaps you want a week in a 5,000 square foot villa backing onto the Pete Dye designed Teeth of the Dog golf course in Casa de Campo. Moncasa Private Club Residences can deliver it all in one plan."

Members would also be able to exchange a portion of their annual allotment of nights for special trips, including cruises, safaris, and other luxury travel options.

Unfortunately, after the club launched to Canadian buyers in September of 2008, no new information came from the club and it appears that the upstart destination club has been put on the shelf.
