"A decade ago I found myself sitting across the table from John Collins swapping travel stories and real estate adventures. That night, John told me about his desire to combine the Caribbean's most enticing and intriguing treasures into a member driven travel experience club that would provide both a quality hospitality experience and a richer connection with the local culture - all with the opportunity to make some money by owning a unique portfolio of vacation homes."

"In John's words this was about being able to 'live the bigger picture.' A couple of days later he contacted me and extolled his belief that he thought I was up to the challenge and should join him on this adventure. I was on board and have been living the bigger picture ever since."

Created over three years by John Collins and Michael Crunkhorn, Moncasa Private Club Residences would be the first destination club to focus solely on the Caribbean. Once the club reached full capacity, members would be able to access 80 properties in approximately 50 destinations throughout the region in addition to a collection of "suites in the most amazing hotels and resorts" and "special Moncasa trips" such as cruises and underwater adventures.

The upstart destination club would begin to formally operate in the middle of 2008 as the club began to acquire properties, and in June of 2008, Moncasa announced that they were poised to launch in the coming months with a club that "promises to transform the travel marketplace by combining insider island experiences, inspiring accommodation, with a unique equity club model."

In September of 2008, Moncasa Private Club Residences officially launched in celebration of Toronto's Caribbean Week with an offering specifically for their Canadian audience. The club would make 52 Founding Memberships available from $27,400 up to $89,000 for Individual Memberships and $135,000 for Corporate and Group Memberships. "As a founding member, individuals will have access to a refund policy of 100% membership deposit or 70% of the then current membership deposit, which ever is greater. Even if a member wants to leave years after joining, they receive a 100% refund. This Founders Refund Policy is a first in the industry - and a signal that MPCR is committed to membership satisfaction," the club write.

Following their Canadian launch in September of 2008, virtually nothing else was released regarding the club and it appears that Moncasa Private Club Residences did not progress much past this time, likely with only a select handful of members.

Joining a new destination club does have its advantages, including reducing pricing, preferential travel access, and direct access to the club's executive team, but you must assure that the club will continue to grow and protect the security of your membership.
