Moncasa Private Club Residences

M Private Residences, Canada's largest destination club, has a section of their website that helps you identify the destination that would be best for you. The first question is "Do you prefer sun or snow?" Those who select snow are met with "We have never had a Canadian choose snow over sun," and are forced to answer a series of general questions about the country in order to continue.

Moncasa Private Club Residences, no relation to M Private Residences, takes this same philosophy to their Toronto based club. Announced in June of 2008 and officially launched to Canadian prospects in September of 2008, Moncasa Private Club Residences introduced the Moncasa Caribbean Experience, a destination club focused solely on acquiring beach properties in the Caribbean that are so coveted by Canadians.

President John Collins had originally planned to launch the club in the fall of 2008 but with the near worldwide economic downturn punctuated with bankruptcy filings at many notable destination clubs, the club took the opportunity to reevaluate their model. "Part of the journey for the past year has been positioning Moncasa Private Club Residences as an ownership model given the numerous configurations a potential member finds themselves in when considering such a purchase," Collins said. "We have modeled ourselves around the ownership model plain and simple. The members own the club, the club owns the property. It is something we have worked towards for the past six months while learning from developments within the industry."

This type of club structure has been successful at various other destination clubs, including Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club and BelleHavens, the club that A&K acquired when they introduced their club.

"Where we were a year ago was a different environment," continued Collins. "The economy has allowed us to expand our club focus from not just a destination club, but to a complete second home ownership strategy. With this in mind, we have been able to tailor our acquisitions and financial rewards to suit our members' desires."

As the club completes its founding membership offer to investors and friends and family, Moncasa Private Club Residences plans to make their official launch to the public with a wide array of special member benefits and incentives.
