Legendary Retreats Notes From The Club
The highest club level and last introduced club within Tanner & Haley Resorts, Legendary Retreats would grant members exclusive access to a collection of $7+ million vacation properties scattered throughout the most sought after destinations the world had to offer.
The destination club would publish a member to property ratio of four to one, the lowest the destination club industry had ever seen. Following the success of companion clubs Private Retreats and Distinctive Retreats, Legendary would follow a similar structure where members would have anytime access to properties on an unlimited annual basis. Marketing their collected clubs under the Abercrombie & Kent brand name through a licensing agreement, the three club options would make Tanner & Haley one of the largest clubs in the history of the industry.
Just as Legendary Retreats approached their launch date, A&K pulled their brand from the collected clubs after several missed licensing payments. Forced to quickly rebrand, Founder and CEO Rob McGrath would replace the Abercrombie & Kent name with Tanner & Haley, named after his two children.
Due to the non-sustainable business models used by Private Retreats and Distinctive Retreats, including insufficient annual dues, high short term lease costs, and guaranteed reservation policies, the collected Tanner & Haley would soon file for bankruptcy with Legendary Retreats never able to fully emerge as the club that looked to redefine luxury in the sector.
According to bankruptcy documents, under 20 members joined the club, nearly all members upgrading from Private Retreats or Distinctive Retreats.
Ultimate Resort would eventually acquire the assets of Tanner & Haley and 650 members elected to join with the club, now known as Ultimate Escapes.
Long out of the destination club industry, no notes from the club are currently available, but we invite you to learn more about Legendary Retreats by accessing each of the club's quick links found to the right.
