Devoted To You...

Jenni, I can almost see your smile every time I take someone's website and use it to describe your remarkable beauty or your wonderful sense of humor. I started to think, I have my own website. Why don't I just create a page that is forever dedicated to you? One that I never have to take down. One that anyone can find but mostly just a place for us. A place that I can talk about the brilliance that is you. And honestly, I don't care who reads it. You or me or someone a million miles away who doesn't know who either of us are.

Jennifer, I love you and it doesn't matter who else knows. Please don't ever forget.

01.01: As you know, I love Marvin Gaye. When I was in 6th grade or something, I gave a speech on him. I had a huge poster with pictures and a timeline and everything. I remember there was a picture of Marvin standing next to his father. And I thought I was totally an adult, because I had a caption underneath the picture, and I labeled who each one was in the caption, just like they would do in a newspaper. And I remember my dad reading it. "Marvin Gaye, Jr. (left) standing next to his father, Marvin Gaye, Sr. (right)." And I remember my dad pointing out that if there are only two people in the picture, I really only had to identify one of them as the non-labeled one would clearly be the other one. Just one of those random memories as a child that is entirely forgetable that seem to stick with you.

Anyways, I don't think I had ever heard the song "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You" by Marvin Gaye, and now I have listened to it for the past half hour or so, specifically the first section, that perfectly detail my thoughts about you.

I never would have guessed a song that was released nearly 50 years ago would make such a drastic impact on my day. I read that update and hoped that it was something more than you just repeating song lyrics. And you confirmed that it was. It launched us into a discussion about our most amazing kisses. The playfulness of our first kiss at Walmarts. The voracity of our embrace in my car. The timelessness of us kneeling on my bed.

01.07: It sounds hopelessly dramatic, but going a day without hearing your voice is a day without the sun, moon, or stars. I smile just a fraction of what I normally do. The laughter that so easily builds in my stomach and exits from my lips on any day with you, has a much longer road to follow. In fact, I don't know if I laughed at all today. My day just feels incomplete.
