Fly Fishing Destinations
The pioneer that would eventually make clubs like Presnell Sporting Collection, Alpine River Club, and Spring Ridge Club possible, Fly Fishing Destinations was the first destination club that focused exclusively on the sportsmen audience while applying destination club principles.
Launched in 2004 out of Sandy, Utah, members joined the club to have a five year right to use membership that provided them access to premiere "blue ribbon" fly fishing streams and a collection of log and cedar homes in the $800,000 to $1.5 million range, traditionally against a backdrop of natural forest or ranchland. Despite the niche mentality, Fly Fishing Destinations was even profiled in the New York Times late in 2005. By the time of the November article, the club had yet to acquire any properties. Once the 24th member joined, the club would begin the purchase process. Limited to just 165 members, the club planned fishing meccas in Madison River in Montanta and the Snake River in Idaho.
Members could finance their membership at a 10% fixed interest rate with 25% down with the amount due paid 60 days before the member's final visit.
Since 2004, various other destination clubs have taken similar approaches including Spring Ridge Club and Alpine River Clubs that allow members access to streams in Pennsylvania and Colorado respectively and Presnell Sporting Collection that is built around the luxury sportsmen looking for once in a lifetime hunting and fishing experiences.
Today, the club's website remains active but news about Fly Fishing Destinations has been non-existant and the fate of the club and its members is unknown.
