Officially launched in 2007, Everlands arguably had one of the most difficult uphill battles than any destination club had to face in their short time in the sector.

With wide eyed optimism, the young destination club structured their club like no other. Everlands described themselves as "the world's only private collection of iconic inns, lodges and small hotels dedicated to conservation and the celebration of community."

The ultra-luxury destination club planned to eventually charge members $1 million to join. Until the club acquired 100 members, the collection of large resorts would continue unchanged, allowing both members and non-members the ability to use the residences. Once the club met their membership goal, Everlands members would have exclusive access to the planned 45 resorts.

The club quietly grew to 42 members, but Lehman Brothers was a major investor and financier for the club. The Lehman Brothers bankruptcy coupled with a drastic decline in interest in the luxury vacation sector due to the 2008 economy, and Everlands ceased new sales and marketing efforts in February of 2009 and began searching for a destination club to absorb their members.

In October of 2009, that search came to a conclusion as Everlands announced an exclusive agreement with Ultimate Escapes, one of the leading clubs in the industry in terms of members, properties, and destinations. Everlands members would receive preferred membership terms at Ultimate Escapes while Ultimate Escapes would further the conservation tradition of Everlands.
