Introduced in the summer of 2008, by the end of the year Diamante Residences had ceased operations. "In light of the ongoing financial difficulties in the markets, it was not the appropriate time to proceed with the launch of Diamante," said Founder David Udy.

While "the concept is still valid," Udy would continue, "the timing is not."

When the young destination club made their launch announcement, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was approximately 13,000. When they closed it hovered near the 10,000 mark.

The economic storm of 2008 and 2009 would play a part in the downfall of many other destination clubs in the space including:

• High Country Club
• LUSSO Collection
• Solstice Collection
• Botiga
