Introduced in 2008 with a plan to launch officially in the winter, Botiga would function through an equity model. "As a member you invest in a diversified portfolio at a fraction of the cost of a single home," the club wrote. "The investment is through share subscription so that Botiga's members both own the portfolio and benefit from its capital growth."

"The running costs of the portfolio are funded by the payment of low annual dues. As a member you are allocated points which you can exchange for time away in any of the properties. You have your own Botiga PA who sees to all your travel needs, and at each property there is team of staff to seamlessly deliver the most magical experiences."

Botiga would initially publish positive gains while they moved towards their 20 Founding members when they would announce that they would suspend their launch at the behest of their members.

"With property prices continuing to soften, members have requested that Botiga delays the launch of the portfolio in order to take advantage of what they feel will be better pricing in 2009, and therefore maximise their returns.

"The club has supported this move.

"It is expected that properties will be secured in Spring 2009, to be available for member use for Autumn 2009.

"Membership sales continue to be strong and only a limited number of Founder Memberships remain available. Founder Members benefit from the lowest share price and two years of holidays with the club dues free. In addition, Founder Members pay no performance fee, allowing them to benefit from 100% of the growth in their share price."

Both the Spring and Autumn deadlines set by the club saw no new information and Descent International, a ski chalet operator attached to Botiga, would file for bankruptcy, likely ending the club's chances at reintroducing themselves to the sector.
