BelleHavens Documents
One of the first clubs to blend the destination club experience with an equity structure, BelleHavens would quickly establish the benefits of their membership model as a leading non-equity club and destination club pioneer Tanner & Haley filed for bankruptcy.
"As we have assessed the market and the various offerings, we believe there is a significant opportunity to create a destination club that provides the best of what other clubs do, while addressing some of the key deficiencies," wrote Founder Darin Gilson. "Such deficiencies include offering equity memberships; lower up front membership fees and flexible membership options; properties that are located both regionally, nationally and internationally, to allow a good mix of both drive-to and fly-to destinations; and a club that if required, can comply with timeshare regulation to offer the ultimate protection to its members."
The small Utah based club would emerge as a market leader and would be acquired shortly after Crescendo Residences to form the foundation for the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club.
"BelleHavens and Crescendo, two leading equity destination clubs known for their portfolios of outstanding properties, have recently been acquired by the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club," the club wrote when introducing the new venture. "These acquisitions make the Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club the world’s largest equity destination club and the sixth largest destination club. Abercrombie & Kent was able to execute these acquisitions with the support of private equity funds managed by affiliates of Fortress Investment Group, LLC."
Instantly a leading destination club upon launch, the new Abercrombie & Kent Residence Club would adopt many of the club structures created by BelleHavens.
Due to their club structure, few documents pertaining to club membership were publicly disclosed.
