Quick to distance themselves from the more traditional destination club model, where "the cost of acquisition has to be passed on to members through large joining fees," Arcarnus Retreats took a fundamentally different approach to their club's structure.

Home owners would participate in the club, making their vacation homes available to other members in exchange for access to other member's properties. The club would also proactively sell memberships to parties who did not contribute real estate to the club's portfolio with a portion of these proceeds going to property owners.

In addition, the club would procure partnerships and make reservations for members at leading hotels and resorts around the world.

Property owners only had to pay a one time entry fee of £2000, covering start up costs.
