Alpine River Club
One of the many destination clubs based out of Colorado, Alpine River Club is based inside the state out of necessity. Unlike other destination clubs that offer members a portfolio of luxurious properties around the world, Alpine River Club offers members miles of pristine trout fishing access.
Much like the destination club model, members join the club by paying a membership deposit. The club then uses those funds to conserve prime trout fishing streams and lakes that can be used exclusively by members. According to the club's mission statement, "We endeavor to create sanctuaries for trout and anglers by working with private landowners to conserve exceptional trout stream properties throughout Colorado and conserving surrounding lands through careful, sustainable land-use practices."
Also similar to the destination club model's member to property ratio, Alpine River Club brings a "beat" into the club as more members are acquired. A beat is a section of stream that is large enough for two anglers to fish for an eight hour day. These beats can be as long as a mile or just a few hundred yards, but across the club averages about three beats per mile. To ensure availability, the club maintains a five member to one beat ratio. As Alpine River Club says, "God is not making any more trout streams."
